Pruebas del QScale

Using 16gb Patriot Class 10 SD Card. This is a test of the different QScale settings available with the Magic Lantern Firmware update. According to DVXUser Member Dave P., here are the data rates:
-9: 29.6 Mb/s
-10: 35.3 Mb/s
-11: 42.0 Mb/s
-12: 48.0 Mb/s
-13: 56.3 Mb/s
-14: 64.2 Mb/s
-15: 67.5 Mb/s (I had no problem sustaining a 2 minute take with this)
-16: 86.7 Mb/s (flashes buffer icon and stops recording after 2 seconds)

Shot using the "Cinemascope" Cropmarks that come with ML, cropped in FCP to 1920x810, exported for Vimeo at 1280x540. Cropmarks worked perfectly.

We are going through the whole process of updating the Canon firmware, making the card bootable, flashing the ml-firmware, and installing Magic Lantern in the end.

In case you want to stop using the ML Firmware, be sure to reverse the card from being "bootable" to "non bootable" with EOScard before inserting into your cam.

Señores, hablemos de cosas serias.

Magic Lantern, ¿que es?
- Se trata del software que permite a nuestra camara hacer todo lo que canon no le deja que haga. porque entonces no se venderían 7D ni 60D.

Pero vamos a lo que interesa.
¿que se puede hacer con Magic lantern?
- MGC (Manual gain control)
- Zebra
- WB kelvin
y muchas mas opciones.

Para lanzar el menu solo tenemos que pulsar la tecla borrar y nos aparecerá un menu dividido en varias secciones.

1- Audio:
Aqui podemos controlar las distintas funciones de audio
- Vumetro: on/off
- Volumen de Salida: +0, +2, +4, +6 db
- ganancia general: 0-32db
- ganancia L
- ganancia R
- AGC: on/off
- Filtros: On/off
- origen de entrada: Esta opción a mi ver es la mas interesante, podemos elegir entre microfono interno, microfono interno en el canal L y el externo en canal R, externo estereo, interno L y externo balanceado.

2- video
- globaldraw: on/off (esta opción activa o desactiva todas las marcas que añade el firm, vumetro, cropmark, etc...)
- Histograma: on/off
- Zebras: on/off
- Zebra hi: Muestra el cebra de las zonas quemadas (blancos)
- Zebra lo: Muestra el cebra de las zonas subexpuestas (negros)
- Cropmark: Muestra distintas guias de encuadre, entre ellas la guía de 2.35:1 formato cine anamorfico
- Spotmeter: on/off/hidden (nos muestra un punto en el centro de la pantalla)
- Clear screen: half shutter (al pulsar el disparo a la mitad se limpia la pantalla), always, off

3- Shoot
(aqui tenemos algunas funciones muy interesantes de dispoaro de fotos)
- interval time: Controlamos el tiempo entre fotografías
- Intervalometer: Activamos o desactivamos el intervalometro
- Lcd remote shot: on/off
- Audio remote shot: Con esta función la camara manda la foto al hacer ruido
- HDR Bracket: función profesional de HDR nos permite sacer hasta 9 fotos con distintas exposiciones.
- Trap focus: on/off

4- Expo
- Iso: añade pasos intermedios
- shuter: Añade también pasos nuevos de obturación.
- white balance: Balance en kelvin.
- Contrast: añade puntos de contraste
- light adjust: hi/htp/off

5- Focus: Esta opción tealiza un transfoque automatico (pero aun no se muy bien como va).
- Focus dir: marca la dirección del transfoque, hacia macro o hacia infinito.
- Focus a: marca la distancia de enfoque inicial
- Rack speed: velocidad de transfoque
- Rack focus: ejecuta el transfoco
- Run stack focus: todavia no se bien que hace.

6- Debug
- QScale: este control permite variar el ratio de compresión del h.264 a numero mas bajo menos compresión mayor bitrate
- Save config: salvar los cambios del menu
- Screenshot (10s): no tengo muy clara esta función
- Dump Dmlog: guarda un archivo log de la configuración
- Powersave: on/off
- Toggle mem_spy: muestra una lista de cambios de accesos internos de la camara.

Todas estas son las funciones inmplementadas actualmente, las cuales exprimen la camara mucho mas alla del firm original. No sabemos aun que mas puede ofrecernos la pequeña 550D pero esta claro que no deja de sorprenderme cada dia.
